Hello Folks,
Not to beat a dead horse, as the majority of people have adequately
debunked the absurd notion that certain breeds of dog are born "bad", but as
the owner of an American Pit Bull Terrier, I thought I would chime in from
that perspective.

My interest, as I stated

My Pit Bull, Kiska, is friendly, loyal, well behaved, and the smartest and
sweetest dog either my wife or myself have ever had the pleasure to own.
(Between us we have previously owned a German Shepard/Husky mix,
Cockerspanial/Terrier/mutt, Golden Lab, Irish Setter and two Lhasa Apso's.)
Kiska has NEVER been destructive, not even as a puppy, was easily house
broken, is well tempered, was easy to train, is great with cats, loves other
dogs, is almost too friendly to strangers, yet is a fabulous guard dog. She
is the ideal pet.
Let me ask Chris this, what would my reward be for being a responsible dog
owner if you were to get your way on a pit bull ban? Would you take away my
dog, or force me to move out of the city?
Here's my suggestion: If you're so concerned about the threat of pit bulls,
donate to Pit Bull Rescue, be diligent in reporting abuse when you see it,
or better yet, do what I did. Look in the paper for pit bulls, find someone
who seems to be breeding for less then upstanding reasons, buy a female, get
her fixed, train her well, bring her up in a loving environment and enjoy
owning one of the most maligned and magnificent breeds of dog that exist.
