First I apologize for not signing my name. Mr Bauer is correct about the statement on social engineering being mine.I will do my best never to let this happen again! Second, I do not wish to condemn the many hard working teachers and staff of the Mpls public schools, rather it is the administration that continues to ask for more money while paying for top and not so top administrators cars. Its called an allowance or the hiring of administrators that reeks of cronyism, or the very poor response and lack of accountability found in the system once you get outside the classroom. (Most teachers and staff are willing to stay after school to discuss or help you get through whatever problem you might have but try getting the same service from the district offices or at 807.Private schools work from the premise that they are there to educate the public system is a bureaucracy that seems to place their own positions first, whether its board members trying for higher office or administrators guarding their turf from outside review much money is wasted or lost on to many things that don't benefit the education of our children. This is my complaint and I have 5 children in the schools right now as well as having a mpls school teacher for my mom and my father retired from the system. It was the same stubborn bureaucracy when my parents worked there as it is now, and anyone who questions it is subjected to the stupid type of argument given by Ms.Mickelsen and she is not the first to suggest social deviance must be the cause of criticism directed towards the public school system. We need honest people willing to clean house cut admin costs and perks and then direct the schools to teach our kids and stay out of the way of teaching, the failure rate is above 50% right now that is failure by the administration that should no longer be tolerated.
