Members -- 1. Please don't suggest other members shouldn't participate in our forum or insult people merely by doing so. Our rules allow everyone to speak up, provided they abide by the rules. Disagreement, sure - but if you feel compelled to say, in effect, "go away" or "shut up," that result could happen to you. Personal nastiness must cease.
I'm serious about this. One member was recently removed for this; I don't like expelling folks, but it must stop. Members are unsubscribing because of the bile; this is a discussion list, not flame wars. 2. Steve Cross is right, addlepated is an insult, albeit a baroque one. However, it's unclear exactly who the addlepated are (members? The public at large?), so I'm letting this one slide. 3. This is not a list rule, but a request: if you can, don't send cheerleading posts to the list. These don't add anything to the debate. If you want to yell "attaboy!" or attagirl!" it's better to send that message to the member you want to praise. We are a very high-traffic list, and best if you save posts for advancing the debate. Again, this is only a request; it's not in the rules.
