I am writing to inform and warn. The end of summer has
seen a rash of small time burglaries; I mean a lot!
The police and close neighbors all know the problem
residence. (I won't give you the address...police have it
anyway.)
Moreover, the actions are believed to be being initiated by a
small group of adults that are using minors; likely because they can't be
processed in the system as harshly.
One of the leaders drives around town and cases neighborhoods
before sending in the troops.
He is a large set African American driving an older dark blue
conversion van.
I moved to Harrison in May 2002.
I have been burgled twice! ...in the last month
even. 2nd time was today so that spurred this PSA.
We need to do something about crime. I mean
punishment!
I don't mean "exploring the issues" that got us all hear in
the first place.
Crime is what is preventing neighborhoods (many neighborhoods)
from turning over a new leaf; preventing investment in owner occupied
residency.
I could go on about how this residence in question is a
section 8 housing facility; I won't.
We've had enough discussion on the merits section 8 housing
brings to our neighborhoods.
Now I can't imagine all my neighbors being happy about this
post but if it saves
any one of them from getting robbed, I'm ok with
that.
