Mr. Mork, My children (2), grandchildren (2), and a majority (8) of my siblings live in Minneapolis, as well a host of personal friends. I grew up in the area and like keeping tabs, as I never know when I may be returning.
My sister retired two years ago from the MPS system, and I have a niece who now teaches Jr. High in the city. I am quite interested in education, having considered becoming a teacher, then also running for the school board. In my current day job I work with parents and the school system on behalf of families. I am also working on a contract basis with severely emotionally disturbed children (SED) and their families facilitating meetings and services. In a month I will be taking on the responsibility of Executive Director of an organization turned community development agency (CDC). I may not pay taxes currently since I am living in Florida, when I send money to my grandkids, my children spend it there. My daughter does not have time to read these posts as I do, and I am helping keep her, as well as some others, informed. I don't live in Washington, but that doesn't stop me from having opinions that the President needs to hear. But that is another post :) Meanwhile, I find that this forum allows me to share my insights and knowledge while garnering the same from the other members of this list. Some of the same issues the south is grappling with are occurring up north. If more folks did this just think how much further along we all might be. I appreciate the Jim's and Jonathon's and Michael's and Doug's and the Victoria's, etc. They help widen my perspective so that I will hopefully, never be the same. It is my great wish for you that you take advantage of this opportunity that we are giving to each other. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. So is letting a possibly valuable opinion go unheard. Have a progressive day. Pamela Taylor (Clearwater) -----Original Message----- From: Jim Mork Scott Dier I also primarily only work in Minneapolis, but I still have an interest in Minneapolis affairs and how things work. I am still a stakeholder in things, even if I don't happen to directly pay taxes. (except for those extra taxes on stuff I buy down there and food, right? .5 % or something?) I do commute through downtown Minneapolis every workday. Interesting. Does commuting through Roseville make me an interested party in Roseville politics? Yes it is quite true that MANY people have an interest in Minneapolis. For example, there seem to be a lot of surburbanites who have an interest in Minneapolis taxpayers footing a lot of costs for a stadium. We who have to PAY those costs figured that out and declined to volunteer. Thats the kind of thing that makes me very reluctant to take the advice of those exempt from our tax bills. _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
