Wow. I'm of the viewpoint that if the sports team can't pay for it, they need to figure out where their business model broke. I'm personally appalled that the University might be building a stadium that could be used by the Vikings and the Gophers. The through comment is spirous data, UMN east bank is not part of St. Paul, but is a small part of hennepin county and minneapolis on the other side of the river. > Thats the kind of thing that makes me very > reluctant to take the advice of those exempt from > our tax bills. What? Lets say some pretty bonehead thing was going on that was threatining people who work in the city that it wasn't worth it anymore and 'good' workers decide to jump ship to another city or the 'burbs. Companies start moving, property taxes don't cover as much. Companies aren't just their exectuives, they include workers who inject a good portion of the economy here. Our affiliated companies do pay some amount of taxes (not so sure about UMN) and do bring a good amount of money into the economy. It's not like I'm asking you to build me a stadium, just to listen. -- Scott Dier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.ringworld.org/ UMN, east bank, work Coon Rapids, home _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
