The people who live along Lyndale did a "slow down we live here" sign campaign. I heard it worked. If someone is on the list who lives around there, maybe they could comment. I know at least a few neighborhoods used NRP funds to do speed humps. That is always an option.
However, I would stop shy about saying that traffic control is more important than playground equipment for children. Neighborhoods only have so much NRP funding. We ask them to prioritize what the funds are spent on through democratic neighborhood wide votes. So...if playground equipment wins out over speedhumps in a neighborhood it is generally because more people felt playground equipment was a higher priority. That is how NRP works. With all it's faults percieved or real, the program has done more for neighborhoods in this city than anything else in this cities history.
