In response to the quote below; I attended all of the 35W meetings as ED of CNIA, David Piehl was the rep. He attended them all up until June of 2000 (which was the last meeting I attended). No one at CNIA asked or discussed replacing David Piehl during the time the project started to June 2000.
CNIA sent forward to close 35th & 36th St. based on a survey conducted by Sandra Miller and Weed & Seed. Due to the new renovated and expanded library and new Elementary schools, Clinic, and Early Learning Center and the number of accidents on both 35th & 36th St., it was determined that the 35W traffic was too dangerous for the new uses on those streets. Additionally, I was at the meeting when putting ramps on 38th Street was brought up. This was requested by Councilmember Herron to "study" to determine whether or not this would help this commercial strip while adding safety to 35th & 36th Street. Jana L. Metge former CNIA Director current CLPC Coordinator Phillips resident WM: This isn't quite accurate. David Piehl was appointed to represent CNIA and served for three years though since his attendance was spotty CNIA was not satisfied with him as its representative. Also, CNIA got fed up with his biased reporting on what the committee was doing and appointed David Jensen to replace Piehl. Jensen recently offered a recommendation regarding the lake St. bridge that improves its appearance substantially. It was Piehl who offered the ammendment, which was approved, to widen the project by moving the ramps at 35th and 36th South to 38th St. _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
