Barely a month has passed since this festival of felonies on
26th Avenue- yet the revisionist history is already being
manufactured. Amazing what people will do to twist the facts to fit
their worldview...

>Clinton Collins has a thoughtful column in the new edition of THE
>RAKE. The first paragraph reads as follows: "According to
>African-American comedienne Moms Mabley, 'If you always do what you
>always did, you will always get what you always got.'

        Makes sense, a logical deduction...

> Sounds like Moms could have been talking about conditions leading
>up to this past August melee in north Minneapolis. Once again,
>primarily white cops, who mostly live outside Minneapolis,

Can you blame them- their pay is too low to afford housing in
the safer neighborhoods. And the thugs in the rest of the city have
recently proven that they are quite willing and able to shoot at cops.

> confronted primarily black people who live mostly on Minneapolis'
>economic and social fringe,

The Jordan neighborhood where these crimes were perpetrated
is not a black majority neighborhood- in fact their is no majority
race in Jordan. Jordan has a population of about 9,000 so given even
the most generous estimate of the crowd that evening at least 98% of
Jordan's citizens were not involved in the "riot". So would you
please quit trying to make us believe this was some sort of popular
uprising against the police?

Again, sorry that the facts do not fit your worldview of the
oppressed minority overthrowing the oppressing police force.

> in a stand-off that culminated in gunshots and mayhem."

May I refer you to the excellent coverage the media provided
of this event- the gunshots were from the police defending themselves
and bystanders against an attacking dog. The mayhem was perpetrated
by the criminals who have stolen this neighborhood and turned it into
a violent open air drug market.

                peace,

Dyna Sluyter from the drug market just east of Jordan
