Been checking the news during the commercials (good to see
the Twins winning). From what I've been able to surmise from several
sources (bbc.co.uk, cbc.ca, cnn.com, voa.com) a tanker has gone up in
flames and is sinking off the coast of Yemen. A small fishing boat
was seen on collision course with the tanker just before the
explosion. The owners of the tanker say this was a terrorist attack,
while the Yemeni government claims it was an accident. The tanker is
one of the new double hulled types, carrying some 400,000 barrels of
oil.

Despite the fact that this is a drop in the bucket of world
oil supply, we can expect fuel prices to take off on excuse of a "war
premium". Being that over half our oil is imported, in the short run
Minneapolis will have no choice but to pay those inflated prices.

        tanked up on the Northside,
