Victoria Heller doesn't specify which inequities she is talking about in printing the land valuations of four Minneapolis properties, two of them used for commercial purposes and two for residential purposes. Residential vs. residential? Commercial vs. commercial? Residential vs. commercial? But some of the differences hardly seem like inequities. It's a fact of life that land sells for more on the 4400 block of King's Highway (Dupont Av. S.) than on the 1200 block of Sheridan Av. N. That's the market. Therefore, the land assessment will also be considerably different. Therefore, the most relevant comparison between the Rybak and Cherryhomes residential properties is not with each other, but with their neighbors. The Cherryhomes lot is the same square footage as both neighbors and has the same assessment. The Rybak lot is almost exactly the same square footage as one neighbor and has the same assessment.
As for Ms. Heller's mystification over when Cherryhomes and Tyler purchased their house, I refer her to my July 23, 2000 article on that topic. Evidently, the newspaper didnt get delivered in North Oaks that day. Steve Brandt Star Tribune Steve Brandt Staff writer Star Tribune Phone: 612-673-4438 Fax: 612-673-4359 425 Portland Av.
