"Developers should display a plaque at a Lake Street property
recognizing a church that was accused for decades of preaching a bigoted
message, the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission recommended
Tuesday.

"Overruling its own staff's determination, the advisory panel voted 5-3
that the Lander Group and Home Apartments put up the plaque in an $11
million retail/residential complex in early stages of development....

"The commission, which recommends buildings or sections of town to the
City Council for landmark designation, voted that the plaque should
simply read that the tabernacle "stood on this site from 1928 to 2002."
