Jim Mork from Cooper asked about the cost of a busway. It depends on
several factors including length, cost of right-of-way, number of
stations, lanes and buses.

That said, $130 million is Metro Transit's estimate for the 22-mile
Northwest Busway along County Road 81 from North Minneapolis to Rogers.
Half ($65 million) will cover right-of-way and road improvements. The
other half will cover the busway, its construction and 33 buses.

Last session, the legislature provided $20 million in state bonding for
the Northwest Busway.

Metropolitan Council's 2025 Transitways Plan includes six busways:
- Cedar Avenue (Bloomington to Lakeville)
- I-494 (Bloomington to Eden Prairie)
- Northeast Diagonal (Mpls to White Bear Lake)
- Northwest (Mpls to Rogers)
- Riverview (St. Paul to MSP Airport)
- Rush Line (St. Paul to White Bear Lake)

One of every four people who went to the State Fair got there by bus.
They experienced a busway. It's a fast, convenient, easy way to avoid
traffic.
