Greetings from the war zone,
Gunfire erupted again at noon today in the 2300 block of 4th
Street North in Minneapolis. This area has been an open air drug
market for years, with several murders within a block of this
location.
Todays skirmish began just before noon when Minneapolis
Police were responding to a report of a person with a gun. Upon
arriving on the scene officers were fired upon. They reportedly
returned fire and wounded one attacker, but at least one other
attacker remains at large. At this time the street has been cordoned
off, and a loose perimeter has been established within a one block
radius of the attack. Unfortunately Minneapolis Police were
shorthanded, and it took about an hour to bring enough officers in
from around the city and plug the holes in this perimeter. I expect
that a search is now being conducted within this perimeter for the
remaining attackers.
I live a couple blocks from the site of the attack, and with
armed criminals still at large I'm not about to venture out until I
have too. This is at least the 4th armed attack on Minneapolis Police
this year, so clearly we have many criminals who have no scruples
about killing police, never mind unarmed citizens such as myself.
This is not happening in Beirut, Northern Ireland, Palestine,
or Israel. This is happening right here on the streets of Minneapolis.
Deal with it.
peace,
