A couple of people have questioned the dearth of lawn signs this year and I think I know why. I suspect all the money is going to other forms of advertising that are deemed to have a bigger bang for the buck. Alas, campaigns are changing. In the old days everything was done by volunteers and the work was simple, make calls, pound lawnsigns, stuff envelopes. One of the friends recently called a U. S. Senate campaign office and volunteered to help. The only thing the person who answered the phone could offer was the opportunity to host a fundraiser. So this is what it has come to - raise money to hire consultants to make media buys. How sad.
