Don't miss the article in the Star Tribune about
yesterday's approval of "access".

http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/3397810.html

Of note in the article:
"Neighborhood representatives attending the meeting
favored the plan by only a 4-3 ratio."

It's important to know that several of those
supporting the plan might personally benefit from
their support - i.e. they live on Park Avenue or 35th
or 36th street. Not to say that they didn't consider
more than these issues, just that the locations of
their homes unavoidably affects their perspective of
the project. The location of my home affects my
perspective - despite Central Rep Dave Jensen's
cheerleading on how wonderful the median would be for
the Healy Historic District, he apparently TOTALLY
IGNORED the Healy Residents' position that although
the median may be nice, it doesn't matter because
bringing the freeway 35 feet closer to our homes will
destroy the livability of the area. If the freeway
comes closer, we will move our homes elsewhere to
preserve them; that was totally glossed over!

David Piehl
Central (Healy Historic District)
