My sympathy to you sir.
My son went to the school and we were very much involved with the
Minneapolis school board pulling the pin, Keith Hammond had some
excellent ideas, unfortunately, they required much more money than is
available. The Minneapolis school board did not do any kind of
background check on Mr. Hammond and the unfortunate result is that many
children were given hope and then that hope was dashed. In addition to
that, it was my impression that not only did the school board absolve
themselves from any responsibility to the students , they absoved
themselves from any debtor responsibilites. While many Minneapolis
schools do not have enough books for all the students attending, Mr.
Hammond was allowed to buy all kinds of luxuries, as no one was "minding
the shop". According to an article in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune,
an office employee of Mr. Hammond's sued him for unpaid wages in small
claims court and won. Good luck with your quest. As for me, I am now
sending my son to a school outside of the Minneapolis district and will
NEVER support Minneapolis Public Schools again.
