The Hennepin Conservation District serves to coordinate local issues in regional parks. They esssentially serve as the local liason to the DNR and other higher up management groups in the state and federal system. If you use and enjoy the Hennepin Parks, and also support coordinating compliance with water and soil quality statutes in your community, your vote to keep the district would be appreciated.
The referendum was brought up by a private citizen due to a personal issue with the HCD. Basically, the guy filled up a wetland, didn't want to pay to fix his violation, and ended up in a lawsuit which he lost (and he spent some time in jail over it). A referendum required 25 votes to get on the ballot. Please consider voting to save the HCD. My infomation comes from a former co-worker whose wife works with HCD. Thanks.
