MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

WHAT: Information and feedback session for the business community
regarding the proposed

        MIDTOWN GREENWAY ZONING OVERLAY DISTRICT.

A meal will be provided as well as a brief performance art piece titled
"Zoning for a Great Greenway" by Wendy Morris.

WHEN: Thursday, November 14, 2002, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Marcello's Cafe (NE corner of Bloomington Ave S and East Lake St)

WHY: The purpose of the Midtown Greenway Zoning Overlay District is to
guide new developments over time on land adjacent to the Midtown
Greenway so that the corridor is enhanced rather than walled off for
reasons of safety, access, aesthetics, and place-making.

WHO: The Midtown Greenway Coalition is your host for this meeting. The
Minneapolis City Council has directed Planning Department staff to
develop a draft Midtown Greenway Zoning Overlay District. The Midtown
Greenway Coalition is assisting with the public involvement process
prior to formal consideration by the Minneapolis Planning Commission,
the City's Zoning and Planning Committee, and final adoption by the full
City Council. In addition to the Coalition's outreach activities such
as the lunch at Marcello's Cafe, there will be notification of impacted
property owners and at least one public hearing after the Overlay
District is taken up by the Planning Commission. The Marcello's Cafe
meeting is a chance to guide the Zoning Overlay District in its early
stages of development by the City. The current version of the proposed
Zoning Overlay is available at www.midtowngreenway.org.
