Thanks to Ron Lischeid, we now have instructions for plain-text sending for MSN members...again, plain-text is the only format not stopped by our list server, because it doesn't transmit viruses. Please, please use these instructions if you are an MSN user and your posts have not appeared quickly on the list.
Thanks, Ron! David Brauer, list manager >From Ron, Today in the mail I received my up-grade to MSN8- I installed it and discovered that it will allow me to change to plain text- Here's How- 1. Along the top, like any Windows-based program, are the icons for File/Edit/View/Sign Out/Help&Settings; Click on Help&Settings. 2. This brings up a list that includes Help on this Page/Help on MSN/Help for AOL Users/E-Mail Settings/Settings/Member Accounts&Billings/About MSN; Click on the "Settings" icon. 3. On the left side of the screen will be a list of icons and the bottom one is called "Show All Settings"; Click on this icon. 4. The next screen will have 2 columns of items and on the right side will be a heading called "E-Mail"; The fifth (5th) item under that heading is an icon called "Text Formatting"; Click on "Text Formatting." 5. At the top of the next page will be the option to use Rich text or Plain text; Click on the option that says "Use plain text for compatibility with any e-mail program; Click on the bottom of the page for "Save Changes." It seems to have worked. My understanding is that all users of MSN will be receiving the CD for MSN8 in the mail- after installing it, I found that many of the complaints about MSN that I had while comparing it to Netscape have been addressed and I think that finally I might be happy with the migration from qwest.net to msn.com. Hopefully you can pass this on to other list members that have been using MSN.
