After listening to Council President Ostrow's comments regarding CM Biernat I can't help but notice that he spend a great deal of time pointing out that this is the actions of one man (he had to be reminded about Brian Herron). The public trust in the city council has been shaken, and the council needs to restore that trust. I don't believe that pointing out that "this is the actions of one man" is the way to achieve that goal. The best way to restore that public's trust in the Minneapolis City Council is to ... 1. Do what they say they are going to do. 2. Be very serious about addressing the major issues that face the city. 3. Focus on the responsibilities that they are charged with (ie. Providing police, fire, garbage, water, sewer, etc.). 4. Keep the best interests of the citizens in mind. 5. Spend taxpayer dollars responsibly.
Using these six points as your measuring stick for decision making will go a long way towards restoring the public trust. A little bit of leadership wouldn't hurt either!
