"Like all the dfl'ers who have been or should be caught we hear this one, although he
broke the law with the power we gave him, was good and true. This is what supporters
of ronald regan said when so many of his boys were being indited. Trueth is the dfl
has hurt the city for years and the blind have let them. We need new leadership and it
does'nt exist in the dfl."

I really agree with Dain's statement above that the problem of corruption by elected
officials really seems to be a non-partisan thing (reference dlf and reagan
statements). Money is power and power corrupts... no matter the party... no matter
how nice the guy/gal probably is face to face.

On the dfl/democratic side we see local corruption convictions and WE suffer for it.
Since the repubs haven't been in charge in Mpls we can't find them doing wrong in the
city right now... but just look at the top and it is easy to see that it is rampant in
BOTH parties. Example: George Bush/Harken/SEC scandal (he cashed in $848,000 in
stocks a day or two before the stock plunged, but no investigation because the SEC
didn't see the memo from the Harken lawyers warning stockholders that they could be
prosecuted for cashing in so the SEC didn't prosecute... but Martha Stewart may be
prosecuted over a $40,000 deal).

I don't think it matters which party is in charge, there will be corruption, until we
start demanding accountability for their actions.

It is as small as getting free plumbing in exchange for helping someone get a job...
or as large as using your power as vice-president of the nation to set national energy
policy based on the recommendations of your friends in the oil industry, within which
you worked as CEO of Haliburton and were accused of burning stockholders but settled
out of court... holding out on giving congress and the GAO documents!!! Corruption is
rampant!

Dain says of the corruption that " the blind have let > > them. " He's right again.
That's US who've been blind.

There's them... and there's us... and as long as they keep us divided, arguing over
loyalties between two parties cast of the same ilk... we are powerless to effect
change. So, what are we going to do about it?
