The I35W Project Advisory Committee today voted on two things:
(1) the 6A or 6B alternative. Vote was 18 to 2 for option 6A.
(2) the project as a whole. 17-3 in favor of the Project as approved on
Agust 8, 2002
"Included in this motion are the following amendments:
+Transit improvements, including sustainable transit options to reduce
forecasted traffic volumes should also be included for further study in
final design
+Further study and consideration given to 1st and Blaisdell being
converted to two-way streets in final design
+The pedestrian conncetion on 2nd Av. connecting Lake St. to the
Greenway should be maintained
+Statement that Project staff will work with all property owners of
adjacent properties and acquired properties to decide landscaping features
The PAC further recommends that Hennepin Co. Transportation submit these
plans to the Federal Highway Administration, MNDoT, Metropolitan
Council, City of Mpls."
The votes in favor: Central Neighborhood, Bryant Neighborhood, Lyndale
Neighborhood, Powderhorn Neighborhood, Ventura Village Midtown Phillips,
West Phillips, Lake St. Partners, Lake St. Council, Whittier CDC,
Lyndale Neighborhood Development Corp., Urban Ventures, Abbott
Northwestern Hospital, Children's Hospital, St. Mary's University, Wells
Fargo, and the Chair.
Voting against: Kingfield Neighborhood, Whittier Neighborhood, Green
Institute.
