Most people don't leaders to lead. They want leaders to follow their lead. When leaders fail to follow an individual's demands, they're said not to be leading. They may be right - for the wrong reason(s). We can expect more, but we will play hob getting it if people don't participate, come forth, engage in their communities and demonstrate their leadership by being in touch with the real needs of people, and not just the whims of a few.
Those who believe government is not of the people and/or who have no time for politics or constantly engage in politics of protest and still insist on leadership but fail to help provide it, are doomed to ever be searching in vain for that leadership. With expectations goes some serious responsibility for creative ideas on issues that actually have a chance of succeeding and of participation in the choosing of leadership to carry those ideas (through coalitions with thine enemies, of necessary) to accomplish them. Andy Driscoll Saint Paul -------- Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. It passes my comprehension how human beings, be they ever so experienced and able, can delight in depriving other human beings of that precious right. --Mahatma Gandhi > From: "Neal Levine" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Fri, 29 Nov 2002 14:15:19 -0600 > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: RE: [Mpls] Political Honesty > > Hello Folks, > > Jim Mork sez: > > We can hardly expect politics to rise >> ABOVE the general level of society. > > NL: YES WE CAN!
