After one of his bouts of never ending rage and
violence when a psychotic minister grandfather would "beat the hell out of
me and his vengeful God in", my dearly departed saintly grandmother would
sometimes put the situation into perspective. Mama would stoke me and say,
"Son, never take anything serious that you can't laugh at. Especially religion
or yourself". A little native hill woman from Tennessee, she intuitively knew
that anything worth looking at was worth seeing with some humor. Anything
else was not worth even allowing to bother you.
In that vain, after reading "PennBroKeith's
terrible attempt at poetry, I propose a "Bad Poetry Contest". Only rule is
that it has to be a serious matter looked at with humor and some ATTEMPT at
rhyme or rhythm. (emphasis on "attempt"). Staying positive on this POSITIVE
note - The contest is to search for the best of the bad not the worst of the
bad.
SO, after re-watching the City Council Committee of
the Whole and City Council meetings, where they talked about "Affordable
Housing" and some CM's and "Staff" attempted to answer Robert Lillegrens
need for actual neighborhood input, I offer the following: An Ode To A Plan
Gone Bad -
Oh their words, how
they bore me so
Telling us something, they don't even know
Their rattle and brattle, a pain to anyone's
ear
As they mumble and stumble, trying to make things
clear
Some others who fancy themselves writers, (such as
Paul Weir and RT), are challenged to reply in kind. I do not have to
issue a challenge to the bad ones, (no offence Keith), you can't keep
them FROM replying.
