Vicky Heller comments....... This sentence illustrates one of the reasons that private business people are leaving Minneapolis as fast as they can. Those of us who pay the bills are tired of being considered "other stakeholders." For years, Minneapolis has treated business like an INTRUDER WITH A CHECKBOOK - sort of like an ex-husband who pays alimony (we don't really like you, but we want your money.) Don't forget that it's the private sector that pays the salaries in the public sector. It's true that public employees pay taxes too - but that fact only reduces the net cost of his/her salary. A public employee earning $50,000 who pays $10,000 in taxes, still requires a net public expenditure of $40,000 (not counting pension and other benefits.) The most important goal that Minneapolis must achieve is to encourage private investment in the City. Stop biting the hands that feed you - if it's not already too late.
