What is especially frustrating to me is that being a post-redistricting 3rd ward resident, I can't vote for the 3rd ward candidate who I support. However, my next door neighbor is running for the office. > If I was thinking at all about entering the race the very idea of being > lost among fourteen other candidates is staggering. At least fourteen > other ward three candidates would seem democratic, this is b.s. > Could someone please tell me I'm way off base, I 'd like to hear the > other side, frankly I don't see it. A large number of candidates wouldn't be a problem if we had a system that was a lot more granular than a primary followed by a general. Like, for instance, IRV. As far as running, before I knew who else was running and what district boundaries the election would be held, I was considering an eventual run for city council. Partially due to what I've learned on this list, I've come to realize that I am currently woefully unprepared for the job, and I personally think that Shane Price will do a far better job at it than I could. My biggest hope is that after the primaries, I feel torn about who I would want to vote for - that it comes down to a choice between the "greater of two goods". I can hope. - Jason Goray, Sheridan, NE. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
