Since there are so many responsive public servants on the list (and I mean
that, sincerely!), I'm hoping someone in authority can definitely answer a
question for a friend of mine.
She and her husband live in a community school zone. Their son will enter
kindergarten next year ('03-'04 school year...scary to even write that!).
They are a bit confused about a basic school-choice rule, and have received
conflicting answers so far.
They want to know what happens if they use their two lottery choices on
non-community schools and get neither: do they get their community school as
a fall-back (in effect, a "third choice") or is their son cast to the fates,
and could wind up at any school that has space.
Thanks for definitive answers. Feel free to email me directly, or, if you
feel other listmembers should know, to the list.
