But, we have to remember that there are some good officers that care about what happens in their place of employment and in their city. It is my hope that they would continue to do the best job they can to weed out the bad eggs in within their force.
TN: I've often heard this phrase, that "a few bad apples make the whole barrel rotten." This phrase is appropriate. The last time I worked in an apple orchard, even if it was only a "few" bad apples, you still had a rotten barrel that needed to be changed. Most police do good work? I've never been treated with respect by a police officer, I've never even seen one smile, except when I'm at city hall watching a city council meeting and the police are trying to deflect political criticism. I'm frustrated with this whole notion that one has to compliment the majority of police officers and then make some lame statement about "the few that give us a bad name....." John Delmonico has a lot to answer for. His orginization, (of which I'm sure a majority of 3rd ward candidates will seek endorsement) makes it possible for thugs, bullies and killers to claim to be "protecting" us. Ms. Freeman (and other candidates): Would you support a CRA with subpoena and prosecutoral power that is democratically elected by the people who live in those precincts. If so, how would you convince the Mayor and council to go along. If not, why not, and what other measuers would you take to protect people of color, poor people and "alternative people" from police brutality, police harassment and abuse of police power.
