I don't get what G. R. Anderson is saying about
R. T. Rybak. Seems to me if there was any
"mistake" (and I don't buy that there was), it
was on the part of the guy responsible for law
enforcement, Chief Olson. And till recently,
everyone is saying Rybak didn't approve of Olson.
But if you think Olson did err, then you shoot
be shooting your darts at the Council, Mr.
Anderson. They were the ones saying Olson was
doing a great job. I happen to think Olson has
done a very good job, and that his decisions on
the strike force fall within the range of
acceptable administration. Have you LOOKED at the
murder stats lately? They are above zero, which
you hate to see, but compared to other cities,
the RATE per 100,000 population is pretty decent.

After reading a couple of blogs, I can see that
Mr. Anderson affects a tone that would get him
banned from here. I'm surprised he was even
linked. I suppose that's how you get that stuff
in here without breaking the rules.

I'm gonna turn hard-hearted and say Tyesha
Edwards was only one of dozens of murders. And
even of bystander murders, she was one of many.
You can't really judge the job done by law
enforcement by exploiting the natural emotion
about her death. I'm glad it refocused scrutiny
on how crime is being handled, but it is a bit
over the top to call Olson or Rybak failures
because of this one case.

By the way, nothing presented so far on this
issue is about crime ON Franklin. The one story
was about crime around the Super America and bar
at 25th and Bloomington. That's five blocks OFF
Franklin. Moreover, there wasn't anything in the
story that suggested it was about gang activity.
Gangs don't pimp for strings of prostitutes and
the drug sales were by an individual addict. So,
I'm still looking for something from the spring
(other than voluble list participants) that
predicted Tyesha Edwards' death. I'm still
saying the network TV, Strib, and Pioneer Press
weren't giving it significant attention.
