It is quite true that IF a homeowner thinks flexibly about moving, they could let the market run their house price to the stratosphere, sell it, and then move to a district which, for whatever reason, has minimal property taxes and have LOTS of liquid wealth for their other expenses. They are "taxed out of their home", but they don't care because the differences between taxes in different places make moving worthwhile. I kind of wonder why more of this doesn't happen. Of course, if lots of people learned that property taxes were really low in certain jurisdictions, that would probably drive up housing prices in those jurisdictions so that there would be less profit in selling. I have no idea what house prices in West Lakeland Township are. Nor do I think there would be a lot of houses there to buy. But the point seems obvious.
Still, as I've said, usually people buy The Package. And people who pay higher taxes usually are more satisfied with The Package where they are. ___________________________________________ I don't get Linda Mann's point. If Norm Coleman is adivisng people to vote Green, how does that make your point that Republicrats think people don't think for themselves? The problem is that Norm seems to think people who disagree with him are too stupid to recognize "divide and conquer" when they see it. That was George Bush, pere, say "Run, Ralph, run". Now, Ralph seems not to have absorbed what that was about. Or he simply didn't care WHO won the election between Tweedle-dee-dee and Tweedle-dee-dum. If that's true, Ralph has gone soft in the head, as he will find out once there is not Democratic Senate tossing marbles in Bush's path. ===== ===== Jim Mork----Cooper Neighborhood "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God"--Matthew 5:9 United for Peace http://www.unitedforpeace.org/new/ __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
