Figures are available via the Minnesota Dept. of Health website. Latest
numbers online are from 2000:

On page 30 of the "Mortality" section there is a column for 
the city of Minneapolis.

It lists deaths under "Motor Vehicle Accidents" as 32, under
"Homicide" as 37.

In comparison, suicides were 49, diabetes 104, HIV/AIDS 29,
all varieties of cancer 653, all items under heart/cardiovascular
disease 873. "Falls" accounted for 54. All deaths for the year,
2989. Again, these are the numbers broken out for the city of Mpls.
You can view them all online in a PDF file linked from the address
above under "Mortality".

Other pages in the report give more perspective; for example,
statewide the motor vehicle deaths really concentrate among younger
people (under 25).
