Barb: Just want to say I never needed an outsider to make me proud of being a citizen of this city. In fact, if I werent convinced it is my best option, I wouldnt BE here. What it really takes is the certain set of values that made Minneapolis what it is. I fear we have in our midst a lot of people who dont share those values. Which is fine. But they want the city to change and save them the trouble of LEAVING. That bothers me.
Jim MorkCooper Neighborhood xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [Mpls] Don Samuels is a First Generation American, Shopping Downtown... Some by choice, some unfortunately not by choice. Hip Hip Hoorah for Don Samuels becoming a citizen. He takes his place among all our great grandparents, grandparents and parents who went through the same thing he did. He is like others who either participate or lurk on this list. Don paves the way for all the children to follow in his family to be born into U.S. citizenship. This is true Americanism at it's finest. I have a house full of Canadians this week who think it's Boxing Day today. By the way, they thought our downtown was great to shop in. They loved the fact that they weren't inandated with people and getting bumped into like they are in Toronto. They said "people here are way more polite than in Toronto." They thought the holidazzle parade was a hoot, and they loved Mary Tyler Moore in all her bronze glory. A big thanks to Tom Hoch for bringing the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular to Minneapolis. It certainly was a fine addition to celebrating the Holidays. I am proud of Minneapolis. Sometimes it takes outsiders to remind you of just how lucky you are to live here. Hope your holiday was great. Hope your New Year is good too. Gotta go pick the canadians up from the Mall.
