Where do community leaders come from? By: Booker T Hodges Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder Originally posted 12/24/2002
Who picks the leaders of the African American community? Is it me? Is it you? Is it the community? Or is it whoever gets to the media first when something unfortunate happens in the African American community? Lastly, what gives anyone the right to stand in front of the camera and say that he or she represents the African American community? I feel that it is important that these questions be answered. During the past two weeks, I and 10 others went around the Twin Cities area asking people the question, Who are the leaders in the African American community in the Twin Cities area? We went to shopping malls, downtown areas during lunch hours, night clubs and street corners. http://www.spokesman-recorder.com/News/Article/Article.asp?NewsID=20552&sID=16 Booker T.
