Gripping his proposed 2003 tax bill, Gobin
Persaud said he wants to know what he's getting
for the $28,000 in taxes he'll pay to own
an apartment building in the Phillips
neighborhood of south Minneapolis.

"I'm paying their wages down there -- of the
City Council and the mayor -- and what do
we get?" asked Persaud.

He joined about a dozen other people at an
impromptu news conference Saturday afternoon
at the corner of Park and E. Franklin Avs.
to raise concerns and vent their anger
about crime.
