As much as I disagree with most of what Representative Khan does, I believe this to be a good piece of Legislation. It's unfortunate that it has to be done at the state level, instead of being in the city charter. Think of it like this.... you live in a part of the city that has been redistricted into a different ward. The majority of the people in that redistricted area don't like the council member of their new ward. They didn't vote for him/her and now have to live with that choice for four years. It doesn't make sense and isn't right. As much as I like some of the elected folks from the Green party, and want to see them remain at their post, give them some credit in winning the hearts and minds of their new constituents. The elected folks at the state and federal levels needed to go through an election based on redistricting, whats wrong with the city doing the same. Yes, their are costs involved, but we are talking democracy here folks. Like the Master Card slogan says....It's Priceless. Steve Sumner SD59 Republican Chair Waite Park Ward 1
