The effective speed limit on Hiawatha right now is about 45 mph. That seems about right to me. Increasing that speed by 10 mph would be of no appreciable valuable to anyone other than pizza delivery drivers. I was at an informational public hearing some years ago at the Nokomis Community Center in which the subject of speed limits came up. One of the public officials present made a statement that one of the Municipal Court judges had informed the Minneapolis Police and the Highway Patrol that any tickets issued for violating the 35 mph limit could not be enforced. No other comments were made on that subject, but I have always wondered about it. Ray Marshall, Hiawatha

Will people respect a 55 mph limit on Hiawatha Ave. any better than they do on I-35W? _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
