Seems odd that we're hung up on crowd counts. Look at all the forces that are against
this war. Most European leaders. The Pope. All our Arab allies. To some extent,
Powell. If the Star Tribune thinks it can undermine the groundswell that all this
represents with low counts for one demonstration, it needs to do some soul-searching.
It doesnt diminish the cred of the anti-war movement, it undermines its own.

I was one of the hundreds of Minneapolitans at the DC march. For the record,
it took these "30,000 marchers" 3 hours (from 2:30pm to 5:30 pm) to march
from the Capitol Bldg. a mile and a half to the Navy Base. They also
completely filled streets along the way approximately the size of Hennepin
Avenue.

Why is this a Minneapolis issue? Because the Star Tribune habitually under
counts demonstrators in marches for progressive causes. I am not asking they
utilize the same skill that they bring to bear when counting right wingers
(such as are present at pro life rallies) where they routinely inflate the
numbers (admittedly the numbers are much smaller but this doesn't explain why
they can't get it right even with anti war demonstrations of hundreds rather
than thousands of demonstrators). I only ask that if they can't report
objectively on the correct numbers that they at least inform the public that
their estimate is part of an editorial bias and that they include the numbers
reported by other sources as well.
