Very sorry, I forgot to "sign" my post from January 22. I heard from an informed person that discussions are taking place among local government officials about consolidation of services. Is any list member or lurker informed as to studies that may show cost savings for moving police functions for the entire county under Sheriff McGowan's office, for example? What about having Minneapolis provide fire or other services to some of the surrounding suburbs, or vice-versa? Minneapolis currently provides potable water to some other jurisdictions, for example.
