I recall someone writing that we have spineless council members and mayor...
I think some credit is due to Mayor R.T. Rybak for his public comments to
MPR the other day, following Governor Pawlenty's remarks to the Chamber of
Commerce, noting how R.T. will not hesitate to confront state legislators
who seek to do mischief (for mischief's sake) or to bash Minneapolis. While
it seems the city no longer possesses the legislative strength to hold sway
at the Legislature on all matters deemed of importance to Minneapolis, I
think having a Mayor who is tuned in, who can speak to members on both sides
of the aisle, and who clearly can articulate on issues he values is a
definite asset to city taxpayers.

And thanks to Representative Kahn for her recent post regarding the
requirement for redistricting following the decennial census. I heard that
Senator Higgins pulled her bill so that it now appears less likely that any
Legislative action to force 2003 municipal elections will pass. Never say
never or what's up?
