The latest outrage of police brutality already has the Chief of Police putting "spin" on it. Is he really serious when he talks about all the steps forward that have been taken by the police department? What world does he live in? Certainly not the world of reality. I have had countless people who are homeless describe to me over the years how they have been and continue to be brutalized by Mpls. police.
I have seen the results of the beatings, the stories of being driven out to remote areas and dropped off in freezing cold weather.
The Mayor and Chief of Police having contests to see what doughnut the police department rates as "best in the Twin Cities" has not solved the continued trashing of people and their basic rights.

When is this behavior by the police directed at poor, homeless people and people of color going to be stopped?
Year after year the complaints roll in... and the different sets of so called "city leaders" roll out their statements of denial, sympathy or false promises.
Year after year people are expected to sleep in the streets, and be demeaned by those who theoretically are supposed to "serve and protect."
The political "spinning" in response to these horrible actions just cannot be allowed to continue.
The pressure must be steady and unrelenting on public officials to demand a change, NOW!
