Your innuendo is chilling, Craig. But not the facts. To address your numbered points: 1. It's true, I didn't like Ned's original idea. Guess what? That's democracy. We tried to see what legitimate power we as a neighborhood had. We went through the proper channels, Ned went through the proper channels, Ned won. We didn't drag it out, and I think everyone got a fair hearing. Pressure? Yeah, as someone who wanted more affordable housing in my neighborhood, I wrote, called and organized in my neighborhood to try to get a result I wanted. Democracy. Relying on laws. It played out. It isn't evil. 2. I never, NEVER used my position as editor/staffer of either paper to campaign for or against this project (By the way, I wasn't editor of SWJ during our fight with Ned. But I was editing Skyway News.) I had no role in assigning or editing any story about Good Samaritan during this time. Since then, we have covered Good Samaritan in a straightforward way. I have a duty to my readers, not myself. I take that duty seriously - and more importantly, I have a staff that has incredible integrity and would kick my butt if I tried to lead a personal crusade with their copy. 3. NO ONE was prevented from expressing opinions about this project by me as list manager. I didn't give up my citizenship when I decided to become a journalist or a volunteer in my neighborhood and on this list. I rest on my reputation for expanding dialogue and openness in the community.
