League of Women Voters of Minnesota Hosting Citizens in Action Workshop at the 
Capitol

The annual Citizens in Action Workshop sponsored by the League of Women Voters 
of Minnesota Education Fund will be held Saturday, February 8, 2003, 8:30 a.m. 
to 12:30 p.m. at the Minnesota State Capitol.  Opening the seminar will be 
legislative leader, Senator John Hottinger.  Workshops on lobbying and the 
legislative process will follow.   After the workshops, a media round table 
featuring Bill Salisbury of the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and Mary Lahammer of 
Twin Cities Public Television will take place.

Workshops include the how-tos of:  understand the legislative process; get your 
story into the news; work with legislators and their staff; be a 10-minute 
activist; build diverse coalitions; mobilize and organize college students; and 
LeadershipPlentysm, a new approach to leadership training. This is an 
opportunity for all Minnesotans to learn how to work effectively within the 
legislative process and be heard in their communities and by their elected 
representatives.

The workshop fee is $10. No one will be excluded for lack of fee; scholarships 
available upon request. Registration includes the new edition of the lobbying 
handbook, How to Make a Difference � A Citizen�s Guide to State Government. To
