Ann McCandless in her post comments "I do not remember whereit issaid that only the largest municipalities are responsible for taking on the care and feeding of all the needy masses."
A point that takes me back to my original question about whom is Mike Opat incuding when he speaks of "no giveaways."
Likewise whom is Ms. McCandless including in her term "needy masses"?
My idea of a "needy mass" is (hmmm) : Healthpartners, Northwest Airlines, MNDOT and yup that good old 35 W access project which I fondly refer to as Allina,et al's private "super driveway"... you get my drift.
Because the written word can be misunderstood, if Ms. McCandless does not mean to describe poor people as "needy masses", I apologize for my incorrect assumption.
Both Ms. McCandless's and Mr. Opat's quotes remind me of a time honored quote"
"Let them eat cake."
From what I remember from the time period of that quote, heads really rolled over that comment.
