Tamir Nolley opined:

TN:

And so it begins. We're not going to give him a
chance and see how he does becuase he didn't use a
union printer, the same thing you said to smear Shane
Price in 2001 when you supported Joe Biernat. I
agree that the low voter turnout is pathetic, but
Don's voters were passionate enough to brave a
snowstorm to vote. I think that really says
something.
Or perhaps they were of the upper classes and had the luxury of taking time off to vote, while we working class folks had to plow the streets and such.

TN:
Here's the Nixonesque "tough on crime stuff again"
Dyan, why not just talk about how the "silent majority
is SOO AFRAID!! it would at least seem more
interesting.
And so true- folks tend to move out of the Northside's crime infested neighborhoods as soon as possible, and generally don't announce their escape on this list.

Dyna goes on to use the Limbaugh trick of casting
doubt on the winners integrity:
Limbaugh has yet to add any new tactics to the debater's arsenal.

(DS)
Don, I know you're a man of your word, and I fully
expect you'll
attempt to remake the whole 3rd ward in the image of
your beloved
Jordan- poverty, crime, and all.
My apologies for complimenting Don Samuels- I'll try not to make that mistake again.

TN:
So Dyna,
How do you feel now about your beloved police
department with the latest news of Officer Olson's
drunken brawl with a motorist, and you denied that it
could be proved that there are problems with the MPD.
There's one new story per week and it's not getting
any better and I suspect it won't until policy changes
happen at the state level. The city council is really
getting nowhere with this.
My beloved police department?- no thanks, I'd be happy to serve (give me a ticket book and turn me loose on all the city's wreckless drivers!), but I make better money at the Post Office.

Geez Dyna:

I don't know how just a rabid loyal Democrat like you
can sound so much like Rush Limbaugh. the smears, the
exaggerations the insults. I know it's a strong union
theme but your beloved police federation (there's
nothing wrong with them, there just the police offiers
union right?) supported Pawlenty. Are you sure you're
in the right party?
Well, neither the Republicans or Greens will have me so I have to party somewhere...

TN:

If I remember right, the Framer-Labor Governor during
that strike, Floyd b. Olson, got on the radio and
promised to "Make Minneapolis as quiet as a Sunday
School." effectively breaking the strike. So what
does this endorsement really mean.
I've had eyewitnesses tell me that Governor Olson shut down the struck companies, locking out the scabs. Revisionist history is so amusing...

TN:
Dyna, you may get a few more votes than Leslie Davis.
Still, even in Don doesn't run in 2005, I think you
should. It would be really good for you to see how
much of a public beating candidates usually get from
people like yourself. I would enjoy seeing you try to
convince the people you are now insulting to support
your election to the city council. I might even vote
for you. It sure would make those MTN feeds of the
city council entertaining.
My first campaign promise: No more boring council meetings. We'll lure Miss Richfield away from that boring suburb to serve as our mistress of ceremonies, have Council Members cruising the City Halls on Vespas, and a different warm up band before every council meeting. We don't have a minor league team (yet), so somebody has to pick up the slack. By the time I get done we'll have the Council meetings on primetime TV and have to renovate another theatre to hold the live audience. We'll balance the budget with the royalties, then send the citizens checks for their cut of the residuals (just kidding, well at least partly kidding).

She ends paraphrasing Rush's "America Held Hostage"
quote:

"from Hawthorne in the 3rd ward held hostage,"
Rush stole that one from the TV news show "Nightline" if I remember correctly.

TN: on to more:

I've also read a few posts about RT's relationship
with the Police Federation. When the Mayor recieved
that endorsement, I was among the first to be very
critical of RT. I still think it was the dead wrong
decision to accept it and I think it prevents him to
this day from supporting policies which will lead to
real reform.
I'm also aware that the Federation and Cheif Olson
have a very tense relationship, and that many rank and
file blame the chief for not being able to thump at
will.

This is only the surface, however. It is under
Olson's watch that police began killing mentally ill
people who had not committed any crimes. Olson is
largely responsible for the implimentation of the
former NY Chief William Bratton's COMSTAT program in
Minneapolis, here refered to as CODEFOR.
Rudy Guilliani, a pro-police Mayor if ever there was
one, fired Bratton and scrapped the program realizing
the constitutional difficulties with it's enforcement.

Why we ended up with New York's garbage when it came
to police policy, I don't know, but if I were one of
the few decent proffesinoal police officers in
Minneapolis, I would be extremely upset with Olson's
leadership and specifically with the CODEFOR policy.

RT was wrong to accept the PF enrdorsement, but he was
absolutely right to try to get rid of Olson. Does
this mean that the Federation is better? Absolutley
not. Delmonico defending all of this stuff in the
news is begining to border on satire, but I suppose
when you've got to let it out---I mean when you've got
to go, you've got to go. (I'm waiting for Delmonico
to use that as a defnese)
Tamir, CODEFOR is a great innovation but it's just the beginning. We need to use computers as analytical tools to track criminals patterns and catch them. BTW, I hope I get the Police endorsement just so you'll say more nice things about me.
