There are two expectations of public transit: 1) to transport people who
don't have a car or can't drive; and 2) to reduce traffic congestion by
providing an attractive alternative for folks who choose to leave their
car behind. Metro Transit does both.

List members are wrong to assert that light rail will be for the
affluent and buses for the poor.

Metro Transit's bus riders are a cross-section of our metro region's
population: a diverse mix of incomes, ages and ethnicity. We expect a
similar mix of passengers on the Hiawatha Line.

Our transit menu will soon include buses and LRT. We encourage
everyone to ride them.
