Greeting's List,The duct tape and plastic is useless in the type of building most likely to be gassed, a large urban building where the occupants have no control of the HVAC systems. Water is no problem and a good idea- one never knows when the nuclear power plant in Monticello will do an "oops". The 3 day's meals makes sense, but the department of homeland security hasn't told us how we're supposed to cook this stuff... As far as gas masks go, the painters masks offer some protection, but for the types of gas absorbed through the skin they offer little protection. I suspect the most likely gas we'll see here in Minneapolis is that stocked by our police.
This post is for mainly city and government personnel. While the nation is on lookout for possible terrorist attacks, people are being told to stock up on things, i.e. tape, water, and three day meals not to mention gas masks.
What is the Minneapolis plans to help those that are not fortunate enough to buy the necessary things needed for "just in case"? I am concerned for the homeless, and those of lower income, that cannot afford to buy some of the basic things needed to provide themselves and families protection. Remember, these are the very same people who voted and put you into office.Agreed- a lot of the working class folks here on the Northside are just getting by and can't afford all these preparations. When the attack on Iraq starts our Department of Homeland (in)Security will go to a red alert status. That will set off a roundup of immigrants and dissidents, and essentially martial law.
Now, many may say I am a doomsday person because of this question, well, I am not. September 11, will always be with us and we will always be threaten by those who hate americans, and it seems as though we will forever live under terror attacks. I just think it's best for all to be prepared for the just in case.
It just seems like the mentality in this matter is "everybody for themselves." What happened to leave no one behind????Agreed, but given government inaction citizens must sometimes act for themselves. If I have time I'll post some suggestions later today.
