VL Freeman asks:
What is the Minneapolis plan to help those that are not fortunate enough to
buy the necessary things needed for "just in case"? I am concerned for the
homeless, and those of lower income, that cannot afford to buy some of the
basic things needed to provide themselves and families protection.

I was wondering about vulnerable people responding to the war and terrorism
news this week, too. When duct tape and plastic sheets got tossed in the
spin cycle, I thought maybe it'd be a good thing to have neighborhood
organizations compile a list of volunteers on whom neighbors with limited
resources could call in the event of an emergency. (Add to the list the
elderly who probably have enough to deal with just getting the sidewalks
shoveled right now.) More than duct tape, some may just need the
reassurance of knowing someone is around to help with whatever might come
our way.
