This vegan was happy to be indulged by my family with
a vegan chocolate frosted marble cake from the bakery
at the Wedge after recovering from the buffet at Asase
Yaa over on Bryant just north of Lake.

Every Sunday Asase Yaa has a very affordable brunch
featuring live music and a mix of mostly vegan with a
few vegetarian and even a meat dish or two on their
buffet. Those who like Ghanaian spice will really
enjoy this buffet and the smoothies are of unusually
high quality with mostly organic ingredients.

This was after an early Sunday morning meeting at
Maria's Cafe over on Franklin where I had coffee and
indulged in a not quite vegan(ahem) guava pastry with
my coffee.

Though the best vegan food around is clearly at
Ecopolitan near the intersection of 24th and Lyndale
where new management has greatly increase the quality
of the service to match the quality of the
food-100%vegan organic raw food prepared with a
gourmet flourish, one of the nice things about being
vegan in Mpls is most restaurants have a clue about
what you mean when you say you are vegan and staff are
ready to point you to items available on the menu or
off.

The King and I is notable for vegan fans of thai food
in that they will make sauces from scratch just for
the vegan customer that leave out the fish paste that
often serves as a base for so many sauces in dishes
that are otherwise vegan in thai cusisine.

Pizza Luce wins the vegan pizza options hands down
though their prices have been creeping up lately.

Even Mocow on the Hill(in St. Paul) makes some
fantastic traditional root based dishes that are vegan
upon request.

Lotus Vietnamese, Udupi Cafe South Indian Cuisine, and
the new Indian restaurant across from the music box
are among the restaurants I frequent. French Meadow,
Cafe Brenda(particularly there sobe plate), Falafel
King, and It's Greek to Me are other favorites.

I cannot name them ALL!!!
