IF you assume that suburbanites are mostly Republican, I can tell you that I
have overheard more than once people talking about Eat Street in South
Minneapolis. The gist is -- a really fun place with atmosphere because of all
the ethnic eateries, and lots of "normal" looking people on the streets so one
feels safe.

Note I put "normal" in quotes -- that's the characterization I heard -- it
wouldn't be my choice of words.

I have to say, the last time I was at the Rainbow was during the election
campaign windup and the place, customers and staff alike, were blanketed in
blue Mondale signs, so I can't say it was Republican, but I can say the food
was fantastic, the place was jammed with business-dressed people, and the
service was excellent.
